1 Sometimes a life's proverbial phrase can encourage more questions than inspire optimism

It is said that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But, what if you don't know what lemonade is? How its made? What the key ingredients are? What it is suppose to taste like, when you don't have a comparison? How would you know when its just right and that you've successfully made lemonade? Hmmmm?

5 Move, Get out of your way!!

The characteristics survival dictate you develop to endure and triumph over diversity maybe the same characteristics you may be required to shed to grow, expand and accelerate the development of self.

There will come a time when your situation has changed where those qualities, habits, and responses as great as they are, must be put away as they are no longer serving you.

What once was an asset if you are not careful can become a liability.

You are not in survival mode; thus, those attributes are not required as they do not fit the circumstances. To cleave too tightly to that which does not apply is to create barriers that will undermine your authority and your progress.

It is not disloyalty to self; it is ensuring the adherence to the integrity of one’s true self by removing all hindrances that may stagnate and prevent one’s true manifestation of excellence.

14 SEX SELLS - STRATEGIC MARKETING (WINE & SEX)

WINE - SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVELY LABELED

Sexy - wineWe all know that sex sells and if you have ever watched television, read advertisement on posters, stores, magazines and listen to the radio you know exactly what I mean. Sex for profit has taken new heights. I am speaking with regard to alcohol, more specifically, wines. Since early 2000s there's been a growing trend associating sex with wine.  The titaling usage of sex now in your face bold, crude and rude. It’s usage has become the “Norm”. We are now in an age of the unapologetically bold willfully erasing barriers and in some case blowing it to thy kingdom come. Modesty, discretion, a thing of the past. Now alcohol is "SEXY" literally and figuratively.
The implication that alcohol is “sexy” resembles the cigarettes adverstisment back in the day before nicotine addiction and lung CANCER rared its ugly head as a consequence. Make money now consequences be dammed seems to be the motto. Wine companies have now taken a page from the oldest sex trade - prostitution with suggestive labels that leave absolutely no doubt at its meaning pimping it out to the masses with cleverly crafted innuendo advertisement, titilating the carnal pallette.
While I am cognisant that the concept of sex in adverstiment to make money is not entirely new, it is a bit jarring.  Perhaps that is the point, to be intentionally provocative? I say this not to put a carboch on free speech and all that. Nor am I saying that I do not take an occassional drink. I am saying that accountability and responsibility should not be negated for profit.
We live in very interesting times where pursuing the liquor store can have you browsing the isles with labels such as:
·        Sexy
·        The sexy bomb
·        Fifty Shades
·        Two Hands "Sexy Beast"
·        Prisoner
·        Blindfold
·        Complicated
·        "The Other"
·        Fourplay
·        Menage a trois
·        Sexual chocolate
·        You fuck my wine?
·        Promiscuous
·        Temptation
·        Bush (slogan "taste the bush")
·        Arse

Oh and let's not forget a little misogyny
·        Bitch
·        Birthday Bitch
·        Sassy Bitch
·        Royal Bitch
Interesting times indeed...

16 Life is what you think it?

Life is what you think.

Really?

It certainly brings to mind a myriad of mind boggling befuddling questions, implications and ramifications.

the-happiness-hypothesis-by-jonathan-haidt

The Happiness Hypothesis” by Johathan Haidt made me think, not only on the surface of things but beneath things, deep in the core of things.

Do we create our own experiences? Hmmmmm….

I have to give some more thought to this concept.

Stay with me while I pontificate (sound off)….

I certainly agree to a degree as I can see the merits of this hypothesis as an adult. However, I question its premise as it applies to (children) the child I was who experienced things way beyond my control or thought processes, before I was cognoscente and conscious of being.

I suppose therein lays my resistance as I don’t believe that children in their age of innocence are responsible for what is visited upon them by adults.

Though…. I do agree that….

“What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: our life is the creation of our mind.” --Johathan Haidt

Maybe therein is the answer….Our thoughts,

While we may not be responsible for some of what happens to us, how we think of those experiences as it pertains to how we see ourselves, how we feel about ourselves, how we think of ourselves and whether or not we allow those things/experiences to determine our self-worth, our value, to impact our self-esteem that affects the way we love, honor and accept ourselves is the key.

Hmmmmm….

How wonderfully liberating and simultaneously horrendously terrifying the reality of that concept is, how many of you out there believe that to be true?

Are we as a society, as individuals ready or willing to believe, acknowledge, consider or even give voice to the possibility that we are, each of us implicitly responsible for our lives and  the challenges, trials & tribulations that inevitable shape it?

Are we willing to embrace that, and if so, then what?

16 ASSESSMENT

A question that boggles the mind….
How can one who brutalizes and tortures be loving and loved?
An answer of sorts…..
People are different with different people and depending on whom you ask the story, the description, identification of the seemingly same is paradoxically complex.
We have many facetted faces, a multitude of identities that change depending on life’s demands/requirements. It is a kaleidoscopic mask that is ever changing, transforming succinctly.
The lover that feeds ones soul, ignites one’s mind and body can be the enemy, torturer and executioner of another.
Just thinking…
Just saying……
What say you?

16 TRUST

Art: Journey to you by Salaam Mohammad

Journey to you by Salaam Mohammad

Trust is one of the values I think we all (regardless of creed, class, ethnicity, nationality, religion) universally agree is very important to the health, maintenance and longevity of any relationship. Trust is the corner stone.

Trust

Trust cannot be bought; it cannot be stolen however it can be broken and lost.

Arguable I have heard some people say that trust can indeed be bought and stolen. I beg to differ. If one does manages to buy another’s “trust” is it truly trust they are purchasing or the illusion of trust. It is a delusion built with express purpose of influencing and misguiding others. How can real trust exist when one wilfully resorts to treachery, trickery and manipulation of another in order to gain it? That is debauchery.

What do you think, can trust be bought and stolen, and if so is it real trust?

How much is your trust worth?

24 "Mind your business"; When is your business not your business?

When is “Your Business” NOT "your business?"
Common sense says (although common sense is “not common”) …

§  When you choose to argue uproariously in public infringing on other peoples right not to be privy to the things that is pissing you off

§  When you speak loudly on your cell phone, telling all within earshot what you did, when you did it and with whom you did it giving date, time and location.
§  When you decide to play tonsil hockey (French kiss) in public feeling on each other and groaning loudly.

§  Write your issues on public blogs without first activating the no comment option & expect people not to respond, then get angry when they do

§  When you confide in others without first asking them if they are willing to keep your confidence
The Debate:
Some say that "Your business” is always “your business" regardless to where you decide to expose it. Do you agree? I do not.

The thing is, when you decide whether consciously or unconsciously to “air” your business in public you are in fact by virtue of the venue extending an open invitation for others to engage, participate and usher in unsolicited advice/action.

Now I understand that some of you may say, "hell no, your business is your business regardless and people should stay out of it, be quiet and not get involved or give their opinion." I am of two mines about this. On one hand I understand not wanting others to interject where you may feel they have no place, on the other hand that deliberate disconnect can be a double edged sword. What if you are in real trouble and really need help and someone butting in means saving your life? Sheds a whole new light on the subject when you think about it that way does it not?

Therein lies (the rub) the dilemma right, how does one know when to mind their own business and when it is necessary not to? I often hear people complain (myself included) how people do not help (come to the aid of others in need). You hear/read of incidences where someone was attacked and no one helped, no one called the police etc, and you think, 'Lord have mercy, that could have been me, my mother, sister, daughter, brother, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.' What is one to do?

This Inquiring Mind Wants To Know - What say you?:
  • When do we forfeit (surrender) our right to tell someone "mind your own business" or do we?
  • How do we know when to get involved in the appropriate way at the appropriate time and for the right reason?

41 Traded Authenticity

expectationandhope-chidi okoye

If you give up all of whom you are,

Over extend yourself at the expense of your self-esteem,

Compromise your integrity and dignity,

Sacrifice everything in exchange for external validation, love and acceptance.

You have dishonoured yourself

Your actions is a detriment to YOU, your spirit, your soul

This is the act of self-negation and in doing so

You have, established to those to whom you surrender,

That your core belief is…

You are not enough,

You are not unworthy

You are unwilling, unable to advocate for you on your own behalf

In this space you will remain…

Unaware, unconscious and unenlightened,

Wrapped in powerlessness and inadequacy

Not understanding that…

YOU, you teach others how to treat you,

YOU, teach others how to see you,

Which begs the question…

If you do not respect you, whom do you expect to?

If you do not validate you, whom do you, expect will?

If you do not love you, how will you recognize loving kindness?

How will you be able to distinguish the difference?

If you do not accept you as you are with all your perfect imperfections, poor judgements, ill manners, and multitude of mistakes, whom do you expect will want to if you, the proprietor of self, do not want you?

The thing is…

Everything you need and want lies within you!

You are fully equipped;

God did not make a mistake in your creation

The heavenly father does not make mistakes

It all starts with you and in you!

Validate, Love and accept yourself as you are

Understand

You are enough!

Know your worth

And…

Understand in all things, situations, and circumstances,

Your value and what you bring to the table of life.

Peace….

BE MINDFUL THAT...

One's constant denial, rejection, negation and abandonment of self in order to please everybody else does nothing to enlighten, nourish or replenish the soul only defeat, denounce and guarantee the decay of the spirit.

32 Too Much Of A Good Thing

"Too much of a good thing is good for nothing”

Sometimes

Choice

IS

The problem

Questions that boggles the mind:

  1. When one is presented with many choices how does one choose to get a favourable outcome?
  2. Once one has chosen, can one live with the choices ones made?
  3. How does one make the right choice in the right time, for the right reason and circumstance?

The Dilemma:

Each choice brings with it a consequence one will be left to live with, experience as a result of choosing.

*Sigh*  blessed as we are with the power of choice “sometimes, choice is the problem.”
