“Character is primary everything else is transitory”
No matter whom you claim to be, who you say you are, where you are from, your ethnic background, your social class, your religious practices and economic status, figuring out the kind person you want to be is important.
In the end….
When it is all said and done….
WE are not as different as we think, as we are led to believe, regardless of our skin color, hair texture, culture, creed or class.
Question….
- Who are you and how does your physicality, ethnicity, cultural identity, social class and ideology inform and transform your character or does it?

lol, haven't seen that kind of response in a while. thanks. Returns on the fab weekend.
DeleteI agree with that and in my own words have said that for a long time. First, character..the rest will follow and too, it is transitory.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteSo true. But often people don’t figure out what they believe or think until after a life altering mistake or trauma.
ReplyDeleteAh and even then it escapes some of us!
DeleteAye, aye, is jess so de man come an tell yuh he love yuh jess so? But wha trouble is dis? Hmmmm, like is really the week fuh mad people to come and play yes. DeleteSPEAK…SPEAK!.
ReplyDeletepHAT oNE,dEE….
You’re right, dearie. While it is trite that no one can cover his/her personality, it is nonetheless true that the sky is the limit for anybody’s achievements.
And sure, we can reach for the sky and beyond the sky to be what we want to be.
Which reminds me of an advert that used to run in this part of the world some months ago….”the sky surely looks down on buildings, may the buildings look up to you….”.
Trust you’re doing great
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....interesting assessment.
DeleteI am blessed and soaking within it.
yes, character is most important.rest will follow.
ReplyDeletehmmmm, sure you are right
DeleteI am just me!
ReplyDeleteah there in lies the complexity.
Deletethanks for sharing.
While not disputing the first statement that character is primary and everything else is transitory, let me answer the question you have asked at the end.Save in a few rare cases the external circumstances in which we are born, live or work do have a great impact on our character though one would wish that certain values are eternal and not to be compromised by externalities like race, rich or poor, society or country we are born, the cultural and religious heritage and so on.
ReplyDeletehmmmmmm, wisely insightful perspective though we can't dismiss the heavy influence of color, class, culture and the like and let us not forget gender.
DeleteLove your thought process.....
on a side note though:
I do not ascribe to the ideology of “different race" that particular dogma is a human construct. There is only one "race" and that is human who we all are, ethnicity however for which there is a pleura of variance is not the same as “race.”
Amen Sister!
ReplyDeletelol, lol, i can almost hear you shout, preach!
Deletethanks .....
Sometimes people have an aha moment and then figure it out. But I agree, we are all essentially human beings with dreams, scars, and great moments of...life.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about AH HA moments is it can slip away if you dont know now how to capitalize on those moments to realize your own greatness.
DeleteI'm not really surprised to see no one has answered your question in the comments, because it is an extremely difficult question!
ReplyDeleteHm, I think the basic person that you are, your character, is something that comes from within you. But all the other things, ie cultural identities, ideologies, religions, all the things we learn and see and is taught to us, all reflect in out overall personality, along with our character, and that personality is generally what is projected to society and to most people we know. I think only very very few people, those we are closest to, can see us shed all those outer layers of learned behaviour and see our true character.
hmmmmmm....insightful, thanks for sharing.
DeleteI think in the beginning of our lives is spent being shaped by those influences you listed and then our later lives are spent shifting through all of that rubbish to find our true selves.
ReplyDeleteI just pushed the wrong button by accident. I hope that wherever my stuff went in cyber-space it arrives okay. I don't think I had any 'cuss' words in it... Oh well
DeleteGreat post today, very enlightening and true. I just dropped by to say hello. I hope you have an incredible week!

DeleteI think your character is very help with us.

We both has same personality alive a long time.
hmmmm............great friends are a joy and a source of comfort and support.
DeleteVery well said, short and sharp.
ReplyDeleteMy question of the day: Who am I and how does my physicality, ethnicity, cultural identity, social class and ideology inform and transform my character or does it?
Thanks for sharing
You are welcome, are you able to articulate implicitly what that means for you in terms of your character?
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting post.
When I read this I immediately thought of the Indian politicians who looting the country and the common man in various ways. It is a sad state of affairs. Do they have character? They are all wolves in sheep's clothing. They just want our votes. That is all. After that they only aim is to make as much money as possible and the democratic system helps them to do so without being accountable for anything including murders, land grabbing etc.
Well, we all need to have good characters where ever we live or the color of our skin. This is more said that what we find in actual practice. Good characters become bad characters when it comes to amassing wealth beyond all imagination. I suppose ordinary people try to have a good character and try to live a decent life without exploiting any one.
Best wishes,
Joseph
