2 Back to work

Tomorrow I head back to work. I have been off since Monday May 11th. It has been a splendid week of rest. Friday evening May 8th, I was taken to dinner by a friend for a pre-birthday celebration. We ate at Il-Fornello an Italian restuarant (214 King St, West) in the Theatre district. Appetizers was garlic bread, chased with a glass of red wine (for my companion) and Smirnoff ice with lime (for me). Our dinner consisted of Garganelli Misto (grilled chicken, tiger shrimp sautéed with caramelized onions, broccoli, cherry tomatoes in lemon garlic olive oil) for me and Penne Capri (grilled chicken, wood-fire roasted mushrooms, spinach + tomato, finished with lemon garlic olive oil, shaved grana padano) for my friend. We laughed, and consentually reciprocated trading stories with the people sitting beside us. After dinner we went to a local coffee shop (Second Cup) to have coffee and chat some more. It was a splendid evening and I was blessed with a friend who bestowed such luxuries on me.

Saturday (May 9th) was faily quiet and I used its tranquility to my advantage by resting and not engaging in any household chores. Sunday, Mother's Day I spent with my mother, sister and close family friends of over 44 years, in fact I'd say its safe to call them family.

Monday (May 11th) I had lunch with my mother and one of my daughters at Red Lobster for appitizers we started with the cheese biscuits and I had a large strawberry dakari. We ate Stuffed Sole with broccoli, rice and cheese stuffing, Shrimp Linguini Alfredo & Wood-Grilled Fresh Salmon with broccoli, Cajun Chicken Linguini Alfredo (Spicy, tender chicken breast tossed in creamy garlic Alfredo cream sauce), coleslaw and mozzarella cheese sticks.

After we walked around Toronto took pictures and watched a movie (Wolverine). The rest of the week went pretty much the same. It was a good time off, restful, fruitful, tranquil and splendid.

Now it's back to the rat race.

  1. Hi:)

I did not know that there is a pre-birthday party and then a birthday party. Well, I'm learning the ways of the world. If pre-birthday dinner is so grand, I just can't imagine how fantablous the actual birthday party would be.

Then the delicious lunch with your mother and daughter. If this is the kind of super food you are eating every day, you must surely be one of the lucky persons in the whole world.

The description of the food was splendid. Many names I have not even heard. Oh, yes! Some of the names I have heard in James Bond movies:)

The photo arrangement is marvelous and I admit only a person with specialized skill can do that.

At the end of the post what can I say. I am sitting with cup of black coffee and ogling at the lovely photos:)

    Many, many thanks for sharing:)

All play and no work makes Jackie a dull girl:) I suppose that is the saying.

    Have a good working week:)

  2. Sounds like you had a grand old time, I hope so anyway. Yea! You had a great time. The dinner looks delicious, makes my mouth water and I just finished eating. Greedy? No, your dinner did it.

I hope all is well with you, now that you're back at work.
