"THERE COMES A POINT WHEN SILENCE IS BETRAYAL." --Martin Luther King jr.
This is absolute truth. This truth should cause us to pause and examine our own behaviours to do some serious introspection and to ask the tough question, who have I betrayed with my silence?
Often as human beings we confide and share with others our hurts, neglect, abandonment, dissapointments and oppressions in order to heal and overcome however it may not occurr to us that we ourselves may be a villian in someone else's story.
It is important that we hold ourselves accountable for how we treat others and be mindful of what we say, do and the impact it may have.
While we are not perfect we can learn how to be empathetic and kind. The old adage of "treat others the way you would like to be treated" always applies.
I am thankful for the many times you spoke truth to me and encouraged me and comforted me. You never betrayed me with your silence. You helped me to question and challenge concepts. And you always did it in a respectful and confident manner. I thank you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Mr Byng, what a pleasant surprise. Indeed we've shared many talks. It is important to me to speak truth and stay on that path-I don't function well otherwise. It is not always easy or comfortable, it simply the right thing to do.
DeleteI am happy that you were comforted. I am overjoyed that you never felt betrayed. Wherever you have felt challenged by me is because I knew you were capable of rising to greater things. That I did it respectfully is because you were deserving of respect.
Much of life is about learning and becoming our best selves. At any given time we can be a teacher or a student, whichever space we are called to occupy we must honor it with respect. I wish you Peace of mind and spirit and a blessed week ahead.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing. The gesture is appreciated. 🌹🌹🌹
Truth! I'm a firm believer that we're all here to provide kindness and service to each other. Thank you again for your wisdom. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, though at times in our humanness we forget. We have to make a concerted effort to remember to give the kindness we wish to receive.

DeleteChoosing to stay silent when we should have spoken out against injustice.
ReplyDeleteI have learnt that not everyone speak up to injustice and I have learnt how to value the ones you do in spite of the challenges to self.

Nice reminder. I tend to worry about that sometimes, this being a villain in someone else's story. I pray that I am not only a blessing to people, but also at the same time, I also pray I am never a hindrance.
ReplyDeleteYes, so do I from time to time as i am prone to introspection. indeed, i am with you in terms of being a blessing and not a hinderance.
