This Saturday May 10th I will be attending a rally put on by
African
Women Acting (AWA) - a Non-Profit organization of African female artists, community leaders and visionaries looking to build a support network of African female artists and to promote women’s issue across Canada, for the abducted girls of Nigeria.
I seldom attend rallies but this one has captured my soul and threatens to tear my heart out of my chest. This kind of barbarism that took place on April 14 2014 in Chibok town northeast Nigeria by boko haram - an Islamist extremist group, cannot and must not be allowed to simply slide by without notice, without our collective voices raised in protest & defiance against such a horrific sacrilegious act. We must do something, sitting quietly shaking our heads while we hide in our houses is not an option! This can happen anywhere, this could be our children, our nieces, our cousins, OUR FAMILY! Join us at Dundas Square (Dundas & Yonge), Saturday May 10th and lend your voices to a worthy cause. This is one time we all need to be SEEN and HEARD!
