Love, embracing the bible’s definition (1 Corinthians 13:4) and examining how it applies in my life, in my everyday thinking, being, living, speaking, interacting. My intention is to keep my heart and mind in this positive loving space.
I have deliberately doubled up on some of the verses, using other versions breakdown because it just makes sense to have them there. I dare say I also added a couple and I know you will know what they are.
LOVE
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy,
It does not want what belongs to others
It is not jealous
It does not boast,
It is not arrogant
It is not proud
It is not conceited
Love is not controlling
It does not dishonor others,
It does not humiliate
It does not coerce
It does not hold malice
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It is not violent
It does not perpetrate violence
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
Always trusts,
Always hopes,
Always perseveres.
What a great thing to keep our minds full of and how much better would the world be if each set our aim on loving well. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I find at times i am knocked off my center and i have to find ways to not only to center myself but also to find a semblance of peace.
DeleteLove is so definitely in the air because most blogs have visited today are all talking of love, and forgiveness......from all the definitions of love you listed, am afraid I fall short of some....meaning I still have plenty of loving to do through HIS grace.
ReplyDeleteWith all the trials and tribulation circulating in peoples lives you have to keep the love alive to counteract all that negativity.
DeleteWe all fall short at times, the beauty is, as long as we draw breath we have the opportunity to get it right.
Yes. I'm glad that you posts this. I have been thinking about this verse lately. To determine where I am as it relates to this verse, I did this:
ReplyDeleteReplaced the word "love" (or "it") wherever they appear with my own first name. Then for the last three lines, I inserted my name so that I preceded the word "always". As I re-read this verse using this simple technique (not a new thought, by the way) I was either encouraged or convicted appropriately. The idea is to be more encouraged than convicted. Try it and see how it feels for you.
oh what a fabulously wonderful idea, no matter that its not new, everything old is new somewhere to someone. I shall apply it. thank you kindly for the suggestion.
DeleteHow you doing? the family?

Yes there are times when we must be fully intentional in our purpose and path in order to stay on it.
DeleteI love the way you have doubled and combined these, it adds to and strengthens the message. I find myself praying for a pure and clean heart these days when it comes to relating to loved ones. It works!
ReplyDeleteI came over to wish you well and see how you're doing. I hope you have a wonderfully peaceful weekend.
It does doesn't it. Thanks.....prayer works, its comforting, releases the negative thinking, thoughts from the body and mind.
DeleteThank you, hope you have a fabulous week as well.
I agree with dellgirl. This is lovely and you've truly captured the meaning of love. It is certainly something to cherish and protect.
