How you say it
Where you say it
When you say it
To whom you say it
You never know who is connected to whom
Where it will go
How far it will reach
How much weight it will carry
The consequences it will bring
How it will impact you
Transform your now
Alter your life
Inform your future
Cause of lack of discretion
Leave negative impressions
Thought before tongue
Always remember
What you say
Where you say
When you say
Why you say
To whom you said it
The context
The time
The place
In the event you have to defend yourself
Or simply
Mind you mouth

Thoughful advice but is it impossible? I often find that no matter how I mind, inadvertantly I inflict pain. Misunderstandings abound with the influence of our own contexts. At the end of the day I feel that I can only be quiet in order to be careful. And then a new day comes and I feel that I have an undeniable urge to talk and touch.

DeleteAnything is possible. Often times if one think about what they want to say and why, one ends up not saying it. Sure there are times no matter how you say something another will feel hurt mainly because we cannot control how someone receives what we say however even so it does not negate the responsibility of mindfulness when one chooses to speak.
I definitely need to pay attention to this. I often speak before I think and then I regret it.

DeleteYou and me both Beth, you and me both.
Very wise words. The bible says that there is power of life and death in the tongue.

Very true. The maxim to be followed in regard to speech is-
ReplyDeleteOne should speak the truth.
One's speech should be pleasing to others.
One should avoid speaking about some thing which is true but which is likely to displease or hurt others.
Also, one should not utter lies just to please some one.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteFantastic post with a wonderful advice applicable to all.We have a tendency to talk and talk without thinking and we land ourselves in serious troubles.
It is always better to talk less and listen more and use discretion and caution while speaking even if we are talking to our family members.
Excellent post,
Best wishes,
Joseph

DeleteYou and me both. I am very selective about what I say, when I say and to whom I say it.
