    8. I noticed you put "Nemesis" on your list.Just thought I had mention it is science fiction (spaceships, hyperspace, alien intelligences, all that junk). Seeing as I have no clue as to your reading preferences. In case you do like fiction novels based on factual science then you should also read Prey, Timeline, and State of Fear, all by Michael Crichton. The last one especially. That’s a real eye opener.

    9. Seems like you got a good reading list out here. When I’m totally at peace with the world and have nothing to do, it’s fiction (thrillers, action/adventure, detective, etc) alongwith interesting biographies (Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, etc), accounts of wildlife and man-eating rogue animals (by Jim Corbett, Gerald Durell, etc), and not the least of all, simple comics like the Archies, Tintin, Asterix, etc which form my reading list.

    23. Thank you for dropping by and the greetings. You have a list of very interesting books. Not ot make anyone jealous but I got the FarSide Gallery complete set for Christmas. "Dilbert" is another interesting read even if it is just a comic strip, it holds a lot of truths. I think they got it at Hastings or Amazon.com. I also have a complete collection of Stephen King books – not for the faint of heart. Reading is the best way to learn.

One series of books I would recommend is the "Left Behind" books. Movies just do not have the impact of a book. Daddio & PEP have recommended some good books, I concur with their recommendations.

If I had my library in the computer, I could come up with more books – a lot of which would be boring to people – most textbooks are:)

      Peace & Blessings.

I read Turn it into Glory by Meg Woodson & it totally changed my perspective on life

You should try Remembrance by Jude Deveraux

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham (totally unlike his normal law-themed books)

The Big book of ifs by Evelyn Mcfarlane. Really thought provoking.

sometimes reading is a mood thing, if you in the mood you read a lot and if you are not then picking up a book is a challenge.

    29. Very interesting hobby and very interesting books. Only today I read about Shades of Grey in the news papers which said a top model was reading this book seated near the edge of the swimming pool with her legx dipping in the water.

I have checked through the list but I find I have not read even one single book in the list. The reason I think is mostly I confine my self to literature and detective books written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and humorous books written by PG Woodhouse. So my view of the world is very limited and narrow. I would love to read all sorts of books but I am very slow. I took a story book from the library in the month of March and I am still reading it. Every two month I renew it very religiously and the book is on my bed next to my pillow. But most days I just go to sleep without reading it or even if I read it will be just one two pages. I wonder how long I will take to finish the book.

You are fantastic to read so many books. I wanted to read books like you but I don't have the patience or determination. I have books near the side stand but I never bother to read them. I have a very weak mind. That is the problem.

My hearty congratulations to you on this wonderful adventure.
      Joseph

      1. Blessings Joseph, I do not believe for one moment you have a weak mind. Its about moods really. There are times I go months without reading one book. last year 2011 i didn't pick up a book till the end of November that is literally almost 11 months without reading a book, then once i did by the end of December i had read 15. Its how it is sometimes. It is why i gave myself this gold, i am up to 55 read so far, am behind my goal. I plan to give it my best shot.

        thanks for stopping by.

    30. wow, this is so much books in a year...max i have read in a year might be 10 asides from when I was in the university...nice one and continue enjoy reading.

    31. Something else that we have in common, our love for books... most reading material in general. I read to learn something new (history books, self improvement, etc), to keep informed on up-to-date procedures for my job... and mostly just for sheer enjoyment of leaving behind the stress of demand career and being able to walk around in another place for a while. You can experience so much in a book that a movie can't even get close to. Reading is one of life's great pleasure and I think the people who don't like reading are people who have never tried or have never truly found some material of interest. Good luck with your quest.
