Enjoy A FLY IN MY SOUP
I especially love, love, loved RAPUNZEL Just gut wrenchingly funny.
They just don’t make them like this anymore, what a crying shame. Depressing really. You’d think with modern technology all would be better. Well, yes and no. Better graphics sure, content however, well, that’d debateable.
yeah, thats something to ponder, though i'm more of a book person and the other way i was thinking too. How come i can no longer find books that i love as much as i love things fall apart, or great expectations?
ReplyDeleteIn terms of books it makes you wonder about our priorities though I am more apt to think its what the advertisers push forward hence what has become more commercialized however you can still find great books you just have to do look for them. Usually I take an evening and get lost in a bookstore going through books, pre-reading until I find something of interest.
DeleteAs for television well, it’s all downhill for the most part. It has become the tube of gratuitous violence and sex, every once in a while though you find some treasures; it has become the exception not the rule whereas in the past great television learning and entertaining was the rule not the exception. Progress I guess?
Am holding out though that we will get back to the good stuff.
Have you seen the cartoons they show these days? Its a big shame. Most of them don't teach the kids anything except violence. So sad.
DeletePleaseeeeeeeeeeeee......girl I don't even watch them, so many are quick to blame this generation for the violence etc, yet the generation before them and the ones before those take no responsibility for what they have left for the youths today to inherit and how they continue to perpetuate the very things they complain so explicitly about.
DeleteNothing is simple and just plain makes one smile anymore. Too bad for us all.
ReplyDeletehmmmmm it certainly feels that way doesn't it?
DeleteI share your disenchatment with the way some of the things happen in media. But then even the values change from one generation to the other and fifty years hence things would be vastly different, worse we may say but many then would say things are far more advanced and better.
ReplyDeleteDisenchantment is a good word. There are a few good ones what I noticed however they never last long. They are "cancelled" due to ratings. One really great one was "Touched by an Angel" good family viewing, always a moral to the story, lessons to be learnt not only for the little ones but for the adults as well.
DeleteNever been a fan of this kiddy show. lol
ReplyDelete- LDP
Ah well you know what they say, "different strokes for different folks." Me I loved it, always good humor and always imformative. In fact I still get a good chuckle now and again out of them hence my reason for posting a couple.
DeleteSo right!
ReplyDeleteI missed the 'old way'
I watched one by chance yesterday, and could not come to grasp with he tech-cartoons in it...just didn't feel the same!
Let me use this medium to complain about the series of modern cartoons..TOO MUCH FIGHTING AND MAGIC! ...i mean, what happened to playful pranks and simple stories that give morals?..the images of different monsters and enemies worries me like BACUKAN..and the voodoo type of cartoons like ADVENTURE TIME... what is the moral there?....cartoons ought to be educative like DORA and laughable like JOHNNY!
Well my sistah playful pranks has been modernized to black magic, voodoo, and violence. While I am not against some of those like you I miss the moral message to balance the viewing, to leave people thinking about choices and consequences that sort, not necessarily to think for people but rather give them something to think about instead of viewing that make up their minds and think for them i.e. brainwashing of sorts.
DeleteAll too often the light hearted humor has be upserted by the need for power and control while these all existed back in the day there was some balance throwed in i.e. action/reaction, cause/effect that sort of thing.
Today parents have to be more mindful about the kind of television their children are viewing and not just plunk them down in front of it. Sometimes its good to be aware of what's out there so you can have a hand in guiding your children's preception of what they are seeing and inserting some balance with that guidance if there is none.
I think are commercialized enjoy watching very much I like your said Television learning for more advanced and better for me.
ReplyDeleteI think about your write is a best.

ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome
DeleteI can't really say that I watched much Sesame Street as a child. Mostly sports and wrestling and playing outside in the streets.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I was raised "right." Lol.
Oh there ain't nothing wrong with the way you were raised. I had lots of chores, hanged with my friends in between some of those chores (carrying water) and some television was my reward but girlfriend had to put the work in! By the time I was 12 I was cleaning, going to the market, grocery store, cleaning the chicken after we killed it, plucking the feathers and gutting it, by 13/14 I added cooking preparing meals to the list of to dos so some television was a nice break in the day when I wasn't out climbing trees, playing cricket, dancing, singing etc.
