Dear Ms Rhapsody, Hmmmmm? The truth is I have many obligations. They are not a choice in any respect other than the priority which I choose to assign them. j
Either way it is still a choice. You have chosen to honor your commitments that is not true for everyone as many live their lives unencumbered by anything or anyone regardless of relation.
So admire your words of wisdom! borne out of many experiences i believe.
I have obligations which i can choose to ignore like so-called extended family and friends demands....but it is an OBLIGATION to me to take care of my parents when they are in their dotage, which is a CHOICE, i have gladly made :D
Thank you, not just my own but of those who surround me and of those who choose to share their experiences with me. As life lessons comes in many forms, faces, places and situations.
Obligation in common parlance meansa moral, legal or social commitment to a course of action that one is bound to do.The obligations as a father, mother, wife, son or daughter is not a matter of choice normally unless there are extenuating circumstances. The obligations to the country,to the community we live are also duty cast on us.One may not be hauled up except in some cases for failing to discharge our obligtion.Better to be self reliant than be obliged to another individual as far as possible.
One is bound to nothing. What one adheres to is in fact subjective; it can be born out of a sense of duty, commitment to cause(s) and or people. To over simplify I'd say everything is a matter of choice no matter how it is framed, even if one believe they do not have a choice. It can be argued that just because one thinks they have no choice(s) doesn't make it any less so. If OBLIGATION were not a choice but an inherent part of all beings life would be grand. There would be no fatherless/motherless children by "parents" who simply chose to abandon their children instead of shoulder the responsibility of raising their off springs, no lack of responsibility, no blatant disregard for justice etc.
Interesting take on the word obligation. I tend to think of obligation has something that must be done but truth is I can choose to neglect the obligation.
Most of us do Wanda, truth is though in all things we have choice whether or not we see the opportunity to choose is dependent upon how we see feel about it is subject to our experiences, infulences and of course the situation and circumstance at hand at the time of crossroads of decisions.
You Are Enough. Right here, Right now, In this moment, YOU. ARE. ENOUGH!

DeleteSelf-reliance is always good
I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the consensus
DeleteI had to sit here and really digest the words being spoken and I wholeheartedly agree that it's more of a choice.
ReplyDeleteIts always good to do ones own analysis of things rather than simply agreeing for the sake of agreement. Thank you for your input.
DeleteHere I am agreeing not for the sake of agreement because that is the truth.
ReplyDeleteTruth is good. Thanks for stopping by. I value your view on things.
DeleteWord Rhapsody.. :)

DeleteWow, I never thought of it like that! Obligation really is a choice one way or the other because we chose what to be obligated to do.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you for sharing
t'is the way I see it.
